Your vehicle will begin to hydroplane on the road when the tires on your vehicle can not scatter rain fast enough to maintain enough contact of the tires to the road. Here are a few tips to driving safely on wet roads.

As the surface of the roads become wet, learn to increase the driving distance between you and the car ahead. This will allow you enough time to come to a stop without having to hard brake and risk skidding off the road. Turn off the cruise control feature in the rain, and make an effort to avoid driving your vehicle in standing water or through large puddles.

The faster you drive, the harder it is for the tires to disperse water. Simply slow down when it is raining. Bring your vehicle to Hixson Mazda of Alexandria on a regular basis so we can monitor the condition of those car tires and recommend replacements when needed.
